Lisa Deyo
Ballet
Lisa Deyo, teacher and choreographer, is the product of her diverse background as a dancer and performer. Originally from San Luis Obispo, she went on to Dennis Wayne’s Dancers contemporary ballet company, Jean Ann Ryan’s GOTTA DANCE at Great America Amusement Park, Los Angeles Chamber Ballet, Disney industrial and commercial videos, showgirl in Spellbound-a Magic Extravaganza, and finally, Hubbard Street Dance Chicago.
The broad range of choreographic styles she experienced each leave their mark on her work as a choreographer today. Currently Lisa teaches at California Polytechnic State University in San Luis Obispo as well as giving master classes and subbing throughout San Luis County, Vail, Colorado and Barcelona, Spain. Deyo Dances, the company that grew out of Lisa’s invitation to teach and perform in Russia in 2002, exists in varying forms. From the stages of Russia to the aisles of the local Vons grocery, Deyo Dances adapts to the needs of the work.
