Saundra Woods
Ballroom, Latin, Social Dance

Multi-talented Saundra started acting, singing and dancing in 1975 as a young teen.

A native of Denver, she earned her B.A. In Theater Arts with a dance and psychology minor from the University of Northern Colorado. There she studied jazz, tap, ballet and modern dance; Greek Theater, Shakespeare, Musical theater, Drama, Comedy and all aspects of theatrical production. Her favorite rolls include; Diana in “California Suite”, Agatha in “Guys and Dolls”, Gertie in “Oklahoma”, Sissy in “Come Back to the Five and Dime Jimmy Dean . . .”, and Bebe in “A Chorus Line”.

She was blessed to win an award for her role (Abigail) in the World Premiere of Edward Albee's “Finding the Sun”; under the direction of the Pulitzer Prize winning play write. She was a member of “Chicken Lips” improvisational theater group. She had the great honor of working with Debbie Reynolds and Tom Bosley during filming in Denver. She trained and worked for Fred Astaire Studios in Denver in all forms of Ballroom, Latin, Swing and couples dance.

After completing her graduate degree in Psychology, she sang with the Colorado Mormon Chorale, a semi-professional choir, for seven years which afforded her the amazing chance to sing in Israel under the direction of movie score and classical composer Lex De Azevedo and at Carnegie Hall with Rene Clausen.

Moving to California in 2002 she was blessed with her most important and wonderful “role” of her life as a mother. When her girl begged to have dance lessons Saundra began teaching at Central Coast Dance/ Motions in Atascadero. At that time she was also able to work with Frank Sanchez. Returning to her roots in Musical Theater she and her daughter enjoyed working together in Pioneer Players production of “Oliver” in 2010.

She enjoys teaching all forms of dance, vocals, acting, musical theater and Ballroom, Latin and Swing dance to kids from 6 to 96 as well as specializing in wedding choreography for the couple's first dance and other members of the wedding party.

Saundra is thrilled to be welcomed to Class Act Dance and to have been Mother Avery in Dream Weaver; her first Class Act Dance production. She is blessed to share a love for the performing arts with her young daughter and be a part of her dreams.
