Each class is tailored to provide age-appropriate and skill-specific training, ensuring every dancer can thrive. Our dress code ensures a cohesive, professional environment where students can focus on their performance and technique free of distractions.

Primary Program
Mother Doing Yoga with Baby

Little Movers

Ages 18 months - 3 years

Yoga & dance come to life in these fun and creative parent/caregiver participation classes designed to stimulate a young child's growing curiosity. Playful yoga postures, animated breathing exercises and imaginative relaxation techniques teach toddlers and preschoolers about their growing bodies. Sprinkled with music, picture books, and age appropriate props, this class will spark the child's inner dancer while enhancing language development, motor coordination and play skills. Exploring practices together will help build strong family & caretaker connections. Classes are for ages 18 months to 3 years.

Dress Code: 

  • Parents and Dancers should arrive to class with moveable and breathable athletic attire. 

  • Shoes are not required, please bring socks

Mini Stars

Ages 3-4 years old

Students ages 3-4 will learn yoga and explore creative dance movements along with learning basic ballet and tap concepts to fun, age-appropriate music. Each session we will focus the first few weeks on ballet and end our session with tap. This class offers age appropriate props, enhances dance/yoga language, and strengthens motor coordination.

Dress Code: 

  • Girls-Pink ballet shoes and black tap shoes required

  • Pink skirted leotard (Eurotard Style 10466) and pink convertible tights

  • Boys-white plain shirt, black ballet pants or leggings, black tap and ballet shoes

Steps & Styles

Ages 4-6 years old

This Introductory dance class is the perfect class for aspiring young dancers looking to learn about all genres of dance such as ballet, tap, and jazz. Foundational dance movements learned in this class will develop gross motor skills, increase flexibility and strength, as well as develop rhythmic skills in a fun and nurturing environment.

Dress Code: 

  • Ballet (pink or skin tone) and jazz shoes (black or tan) are required

  • Girls-black leotard, pink or skin-tone convertible tights required.

  • Boys-plain shirt and black ballet pants

Boys Pre-Dance

Ages 4-6

This high-energy dance class will be focusing on an introduction to a variety of dance styles and techniques while increasing flexibility, strength, developing coordination as well as developing rhythmic skills in a fun and nurturing environment.

Dress Code: 

  • Black ballet and black jazz shoes are required

  • Plain shirt and black ballet pants or leggings

Young Dance Students

Pre Ballet

Ages 5-7

Our Pre-Ballet class at Class Act Dance is a pivotal step for young dancers transitioning from the CAD Kids program to a more structured dance environment. This class introduces an elevated level of formal training, focusing on the essential components of ballet such as barre and center work.

Students will concentrate on key elements of classical ballet such as posture, placement, and presence in a fun nurturing environment. The exercises at this stage aim to enhance alignment, flexibility, and coordination, laying a strong foundation for the continued levels of ballet training.

Beyond the joy of movement, this class fosters discipline and mutual respect through a structured classroom setting. Each session concludes with a reverence, providing a moment for reflection and gratitude. Join us to begin your ballet journey and ignite a passion for the art form.

Dress Code: 

  • Ballet shoes (pink or skin tone) are required

  • Girls-black leotard, pink (or skin tone) convertible tights required

  • Boys-wear plain shirt and black ballet pants

Ballet

Ballet Fundamentals

Ages 7-11

Ballet Fundamentals is a multipurpose class that acts as an option for an array of CAD students. Covering both the Level 1 and 2 CPYB syllabus allows for this class to be a second class option for Level 1 and Level 2 ballet dancers whose second class option is conflicting to their weekly schedule. This class also acts as a make-up class for Levels 1-3. Ballet Fundamentals can help build a solid foundation for dancers whose focus is jazz and/or contemporary dance, or can be used for new CAD students looking to catch up to a weekly level-based class.

Dress Code: 

  • Ballet shoes (pink or skin tone) are required

  • Girls-black leotard with pink or skin-tone convertible tights

  • Boys-plain shirt and black ballet pants (black ballet shoes as well)

Ballet Level 1 (Ages 7+)

Ballet Level 3 + Pre-Pointe/Pointe 

Ballet Level 4 Technique Pointe

Placement Evaluation Required for level 1 and above

Following Pre Ballet training dancers begin their graded syllabus training in Level 1. The Level 1 dancer will be learning the basic ballet positions, the progression of a standard ballet barre, and learning the French vocabulary that defines all ballet steps. As the dancer progresses they will learn beginning center work, away from the support of the ballet barre.

The ballet technique will progress appropriately for each level as the dancer's body has become strong enough to accomplish the movements taught. The Director/Instructor will determine when the dancer is ready to move to the next level where more intricate steps and combinations are introduced. All Ballet placement is determined by ability, not age.

Dress Code For All Ballet Levels

  • Ballet shoes (pink or skin tone) are required, Pointe shoes required based on
    class level

  • Girls-black leotard 

  • Girls-pink or skin tone convertible tights required

  • Boys-plain white shirt, black ballet pants or leggings, black ballet shoes

Jazz 

Intro To Jazz

Ages 5-7 with Vanessa Orr
Ages 7-11 with Marikin Ziegler

Get ready to groove with our Intro to Jazz class!

A perfect place to start your dancer’s training, this vibrant class is perfect for dancers who are eager to explore the rhythms and movements of the jazz genre.


In this class, dancers will learn:
Basic exercises to increase flexibility, strength, coordination, and balance
A variety of basic dance steps and vocabulary used in all forms of dance
High energy technique and progressions including across the floor combinations.

Dress Code:

  • Tan jazz shoes required

  • Girls-Black leotard 

  • Girls-pink or skin tone convertible tights required, comfortable shorts may be worn over

  • Boys-plain white shirt, black ballet pants or leggings

Placement Evaluation Required

Following Pre-Jazz training, dancers begin their graded syllabus training in Level 1. The Level 1 dancer will be learning the basic jazz positions, the progression of a standard jazz warm-up, and the terminology that defines all jazz steps. As the dancer progresses, they will learn beginning center work, away from the support of stationary exercises.

The jazz technique will progress appropriately for each level as the dancer's body becomes strong enough to accomplish the movements taught. The Director/Instructor will determine when the dancer is ready to move to the next level, where more intricate steps and combinations are introduced. All jazz placement is determined by ability, not age.

Dress Code:

  • Tan jazz shoes required

  • Girls-Black leotard (shorts or leggings over top are okay)

  • Girls-pink or skin tone convertible tights if wearing shorts

  • Boys-plain white shirt, black ballet pants or leggings

Acro + Contemporary Classes

Acro + Contemporary 

Acro skills have become an important component of today’s dance training programs. This class will be a combination of acrobatic skills and contemporary dance technique that will develop balance, agility, flexibility, strength and motor coordination while integrating Acrobatic skills into the artistry of Contemporary Dance.

Our Acro/Contemporary classes program is taught by Certified Acrobatic Arts Instructors following a graded syllabus for the safety of the student. Depending on the level of the class, students will learn a variety of skills such as cartwheels, handstands, front chest stand, hand balancing, headstands and more.

Intro to Acro + Contemporary (Ages 7 +)
Acro + Contemporary Level 3 (Placement by instructor required)
Acro + Contemporary Level 4 (Placement by instructor required)

Dress Code:

  • Tight, athletic clothing

  • Shoes-pink ballet shoes for intro level, cotton dance socks for level 3+
